Hi there – really struggling to be clear on what is the best value for and the family.

We are staying for 4 days only in May 2019. We will travel by train from Zurich Airport to Lauterbrunnen where we will be staying. During this time in Lauterbrunnen we will want to travel to Jungfraujoch also.

It seems as though the Swiss Travel Pass is best and that we will have to pay gain to travel from Lauterbrunnen to Junfraujoch, although with a 25% discount. Think that’s right but still not sure.

We are 2 Adults (40’s) and 3 children all under 15.

IF !! I’m right on this:-

1) I’m not clear if 3 children can travel free with 2 Adults or if it’s mirrored (1 adult per child) meaning I need to buy 1 more child ticket.

2)Whether there are any further discounts available on any of these tickets from any websites.

Any tips would be much appreciated. We are stretching to make this trip happen at all and any saving is huge to us.

Hi Paul and welcome to MySwissAlps!

1. All 3 kids travel free with the Swiss Family Card (1 card needed only). http://www.myswissalps.com/sw issfamilycard. The SFC is free when ordered with the Swiss Travel Pass (1 per adult).
2. Sometimes promotions on the Swiss Travel Pass happen but we don’t know about it ahead of time. I’d suggest ordering it online and having it emailed to you to print at home – that way you can wait a bit for promotions but I’d still order the passes a week before travel at the latest.

Take a look at the Jungfrau Travel Pass as an option too, but there is no “free Swiss Family Card” for this pass so you must buy the child version of the pass for each kid (still pretty cheap) and it won’t cover your trip from Zurich airport to Interlaken). http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfrautravelpass

If you don’t mind buying tickets as you go you may find the Swiss Half Fare Card (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard) plus Swiss Family Card works for you. You then get 50% off Jungfraujoch adult trip tickets.
