Apologies if this has been posted before. I think it has been said that ascending from Stechelberg and returning via Grutschalp gives the best views ? Are there also alternatives to get to Lauterbrunnen from our base in Grindelwald without covering the same ground ? Thanks

I prefer to go up via Grütschalp and down to Stechelberg which offers opportunity to call in at Trummelbach Falls on way back to Lauterbrunnen.

The map at http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity will show you the options for getting from Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen. Note Grindelwald to Männlichen cableway is not running but a replacement bus service starts 22 June. Views from Männlichen are stunning.

Thank you Maria and Rockoyster, The link indeed confirms my original question, and recommends ascending via Stechelberg, so we shall go that way . We have 5 full days in Grindelwald and will not miss a visit to Trummelback . I did miss it on a visit 40 years ago so I have waited a long time . Thanks

I like going the other way because the descent to Stechelberg is scarier than the descent from Grütschalp. 😉
