Hi,

Am planning to enter swiss alps from Lugano/tirano,wanted to know if

1. swiss travel pass covers this train journey from tirano to chur and theteafter to lucerne

2. Is it worth doing it from tirano or is it sacrosanct that it should commence from chur or st moritz

Hello gururotors and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

1. Yes, apart from compulsory reservation charge on the Bernina Express.

2. Go whichever way best suits your overall itinerary. Travelling south to north is fine. The scenery is the same in either direction and the seats in the train face both directions. Try to sit on the left heading north and face the back of the train especially to get the best view of the Landwasser viaduct as you exit the tunnel shortly after leaving Filisur.

Hi Gururotors,

Be sure to have a look at our Swiss Travel Pass page here as well. It gives information on the pass, where to buy it online (for printing at home) and the coverage area of the pass as well (PDF map).

Happy travels!
