Hi all,

just joined forum!

i know will be lots of posts re rail travel in Switzerland but we are travelling in big group and wanted to know if worth getting Half Price Card?

There are 6 adults and 3 children. We are travelling by train Basel to Luzern on 26 Dec for 3 days and are going skiing to Melschee Frutt (cheaper than most resorts, we are on budget!)

does it help us to buy Half Price Card at chf120 ea or are there other travel cards aimed at big groups?

Group discounts start from 10 people (see here), but even then a rail pass such as the Swiss Half Fare Card provides a better discount. Please see myswissalps.com/ swisshalffarecard. How did you like the video on that page?

Whether it is worth it to buy a Swiss Half Fare Card depends on the day trips you’ll do during your stay (apart from ski lifts as these are not discounted). If you only stay in Melchsee to ski it won’t be worth it. Please see myswissalps.com/train/ ticketspasses/practica l/ chooserailpass for help.
