Hi all,

I’ll be travelling Switzerland from Dec 6 thru Dec 10. I’ll base in Interaken in Day 1 & Day 2 and I’m planning to visit Blausee BE & Oeschinensee lake in one day. But I learned that Oeschinen cable car would not be operate during that period. Would it be too difficult to hike from Kandersteg to Oeschinen in winter? Would it be too rush to have these 2 spots in one day. If so, I might consider to visit Blausee BE in the morning & visit Thun in the afternoon. Appreciate if anyone can provide some insights.

“Too difficult” depends on what kind of hiker you are and what physical condition you are in.

Probably, that is too early for serious snow, but no promises.

It is a 400 meter climb, and the yellow color of the trail marking means that special gear is not required.

To complement on Blausee: it can be reached by postal bus from Kandersteg. The bus stop is Blausee BE: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable.

The path might be closed because the ski season will have started and yellow ‘wanderweg’ paths may be officially closed for the winter.
