Hello All,
Please help me understand do I need advance booking/reservations for
1. Boat ride from Interlaken to Brienz
2. Cogwheel train from Brienz to Rothorn
If yes, how early can we book?
I have a second class Swiss Travel Pass with me.

Hello Sweta,

I don’t believe reservations are possible on either of those trips. Certainly not on the boat and Brienzer Rothorn seems to only offer reservations for larger groups. See brienz-rothorn-bahn.ch/timetable-prices/?lang=en.

Thank you for your reply. I can see option of buying boat tickets on their site.
Will seats always be available if we don’t have bookings? Planning to visit on 1st October ’19.

Hi Sweta! That’s correct, reservations aren’t possible for the Lake Brienz boat trip (myswissalps.com/boatla kebrienz/tickets) nor for the cogwheel train to Brienzer Rothorn (myswissalps.com/brienz errothorn/tickets), as far as I know. October is low season so you shouldn’t have any problems finding seats.

Very few Swiss lake boats need reservation as they act like local buses only on water. Rothorn Bahn (BRB) is a first come first served railway. Early October is very low season – I doubt things will be too busy. I’ve ridden the BRB in August and it wasn’t busy.
