    Hi,

I noted from the Duty free allowance schedule that Alcohol can be brought having alcohol content less than 18% upto 5 l and alcohol contents more than 18% only 1 l. If I bring two bottles of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) with me, whether I have to pay VAT @ 15CHF per liter?

Further, please advise whether Bars at reasonable rates are available in cities of Switzerland or alcoholic beverages are available at Super Markets there?

    Hi Devender,

I can’t answer your first question, sorry. I guess it depends on the percentage of alcohol in the IMFL. The government links here might be helpful: http://www.myswissalps.com/ab outswitzerland/practic al/websites.

Alcoholic beverages are available in most supermarkets apart from Migros. Examples of cheaper stores are Denner and Aldi. Bars will always be more expensive than supermarkets. Whether you find prices reasonable depends on your expectations, but Switzerland is pricier than many other countries.
