Hi, will i have an issue buying train/ cable car tickets up to Schilthorn, Gracier Paradise, Sunnega, Gornegarat just one to two days prior? I will be in these two regions next weekend and realised that these days the weather can be very unpredicable with rain and snowfall.

    Hi LynnK,

No worries, you can get the tickets just before your trip from the ticket counters. Options to purchase online are also available from the Switzerland Travel Centre.

There really is no need ever to buy tickets in advance for mountain railways and cableways in Switzerland. They all work generally on a turn up and go basis, so buying tickets in advance will not get you in the queue any earlier than if you buy the ticket at the ticket booth ‘on the spot’ in the base station of each line

    Hi LynnK,

In high season it can sometimes get busy at Gornergrat and Schilthorn. For both these mountains you secure priority boarding: https://www.myswissalps.com/schilthorn/tickets, https://www.myswissalps.com/gornergrat/tickets. Next weekend will be the Easter weekend, and although mid-April is still a quiet low-season period (https://www.myswissalps.com/besttimetovisit), that weekend might be a bit busier with tourists from bordering countries or from within Switerland. But still it shouldn’t be a problem to get your tickets shortly before departure. I expect it to be way less busy than sunny days in July and August.
