Can a child aged 14 travel free with parent on trains and public transport? Or he needs to buy a ticket too? We are a family of 4 travelling together, most probably we will get a half fare card. Does the 14 year old child need to purchase a half fare card? Or we should buy him a junior card. We plan to stay in Switzerland for 7 days and will travel from Zurich to Luzern to Interlaken to Bern and then back to Zurich.

Thanks in advance for your advice

    Hi Sansliu,

When you order a Swiss Half Fare Card you can order along the free Swiss Family Card. That gets you free traveling for the child. In the Swiss Railways webshop at http://www.swissrailways.com/ en, tick the “Family Card” box for the child. Pick “Online Ticket” as the delivery option so you get all the cards e-mailed and you can print them at home.

Another option is the Swiss Travel Pass. It also comes with the Swiss Family Card on request.
