    Hi

We are travelling on the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz. Does the train stop long enough during the trip to get off the train for a small amount of time during the journey?

    Cheers

    Mark

Hello Puff and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

It stops long enough fro a leg stretch on the platform at Disentis. Maybe 15-20 minutes if I recall correctly.

    Hi Mark,

according to the timetable it stops for 16 mins in Disentis and 17 mins in Chur. All the other stops are less (0-5 mins): http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable. To be sure to see the Glacier Express route, enter the via-station Andermatt. Trains labeled PE (Panorama Express) are the Glacier Express.

I also have a question about the Glacier Express. Is food served on the train, other than the Excellence class? Is it included or is it available for purchase? How about drinks of all types? Also, can one bring food, snacks, drinks on board? We will be traveling there in less than 2 weeks. We are so excited.

Food service is not limited to the Excellence Class. You can take your own food/drinks or you can order onboard. See http://www.glacierexpress.ch/ en/travel-planning/gastronomy/.

Hi Nickolyn! Sure, there’s a trolley with drinks and snacks, and meals can be served in both 2nd and 2nd class. It’s explained under “The train” at http://www.myswissalps.com/gl acierexpress.

Also when traveling Zermatt to St Moritz -is it possible to get off the Glacier Express at Reichenau and hop on a regional train to St Moritz to save time if you don’t want to go to Chur?

Hi Boxjelly5! I don’t think that will save time. Glacier Express don’t even stop in Reichenau-Tamins, and regional trains aren’t that much faster. Just staying seated and enjoying the entire ride, including the short “detour” to and from Chur, would be easiest.

    Hi,

Stanserhorn website shows that it is open till 17th Nov 2019. I am landing to Zurich from Paris on 16th Nov 2019. Can you please confirm that Stanserhorn will be operational for 17th Nov 2019 as well.

If not, please suggest if I can visit till gimmelwald & Murren after 16th Nov. 2019. I know Schilthorn will be closed during that period.

    Thank you.
