Hello.
In January, with your tremendous help, I was able to set up a complete travel plan to Swiss in May for my family. However, due to Pandemic COVID-19, we decided to cancel and retry it in May of 2021. When I try to cancel 8 days pass for four of our family members, they told me that internet purchased passes are NOT refundable. I think I heard that usually 85% of costs is refundable. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
HL

Hi HL,
Please share from which reseller or agent you purchased the Swiss Travel Pass from? If you bought it from Happy Rail, the standard cancellation policy is 85% if you cancel before your date of travel.
The best thing to do is to contact your reseller or agent and ask for a clarification. With the current situation regarding the outbreak, I think most resellers and agents do provide some kind recourse as most countries have introduced restrictions in travel and movement. In Switzerland today, the federal office has imposed stricter measures to contain the spread including closing schools and banning events or gathering with more than 100 people.
Regards,
Anna
Yshu_krishnaParticipant62 posts13 March 2020 at 18:33:55 #931382we have booked two supersaver tickets from zurich airport to luzern.
as we have cancelled our trip we asked for a refund.
eventhough supersaver tickets are nonrefundable we got full money .
and one more thing that while we called the customer care they were so kind.
AnnaModerator6382 posts13 March 2020 at 20:40:00 #931383Thanks for sharing Yshu krishna. That’s good to know.
The current situation is quite unfortunate but hopefully things will get better soon.

Did you buy the tickets from SBB or from the French counterpart?

AnnaModerator6382 posts14 March 2020 at 15:14:55 #931388Hi Yshu krishna,
Have you tried this link? faq.trainline.eu/article/172-cancel-and-refund-my-ticket
Anna
Yshu_krishnaParticipant62 posts14 March 2020 at 16:53:06 #931389yes anna.
the ticket i bought was non refundable :(.
so its showing cannot be exchanged or refunded.
AnnaModerator6382 posts14 March 2020 at 17:58:01 #931390Hi Yishu krishna,
I know that SBB is offering goodwill refunds to travellers who have had to cancel their trips due to the outbreak. I think it’s worth contacting the agent again in writing and at least request for a clarification. Have a look at this: http://www.thetrainline.com/trains/coronavirus-travel-information
Hope that helps.
Safe travel and regards,
Anna

3717noParticipant16 posts16 March 2020 at 20:56:43 #931394I am happy for Yshu. I have purchased the passes via different agent (see below). They are going to charge 360 CHF (90CHF per person) which is high so I didn’t cancel it yet. If anyone used this agent and was successful to get better deal, please share information with me? Thanks. STC Switzerland Travel Centre AG
STC Switzerland Travel Centre AG is a company owned by hotelleriesuisse, Switzerland Tourism and SBB – The Swiss Railway.ArnoModerator15484 posts17 March 2020 at 6:54:55 #931395Hi HL,
STC is the official tourist web shop of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). What did you spend on the passes? As Anna mentioned, the regular refund is 85%. But STC had a statement on their website that I am double checking at the moment (http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/swiss-travel-pass-refund-policies-sbbstc). The remaining 15% may or may not be refunded if you have travel insurance with a cancellation policy.
I’ll get back to you here as soon as I have more details.
ArnoModerator15484 posts17 March 2020 at 13:31:03 #931396Hi again HL,
Switzerland Travel Center now offers a full refund for all passes for travel up to 30 April 2020. Please contact them to arrange for that: http://www.myswissalps.com/aboutus/partners/sbb.
I have updated this in http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/does-the-corona-virus-affect-trips-to-switzerland as well. In case this policy is changed or extended I will update there too.
EsridgeParticipant7 posts18 March 2020 at 2:28:49 #931397I emailed them and got an email back today to say they will refund all my Swiss travel passes.
