Hi, sorry for all the questions but last minute planning & trying to work out costs to see if we should (or not) buy a half fare card . We have a car , plus the mountain exvursions all weather permitting so not sure we will do all! But what im trying to find at the minute is a cruise on Lake Thun , one way, from Interlaken to Thun. Cheapest price i can see (without HFC) is 43CHF – is this right? Are there other options to sail on the lake which are more within a lower cost.. ? Alternative plan is to drive to Thun perhaps, to see it, or Beatus Caves, or another activity. The different options with all the different available passes makes it so confusing! We will be staying in Interlaken so am i right in thinking the guest houses provide a guest card – are we likely to save money with this on a cruise on Lake Thun? Thanks for any replies (you have been really helpful so far)

    Hi Kj123,

Interlaken – Thun by boat costs around 45 CHF without any pass or discount (see the timetable).

All hotels in Interlaken provide a free guest card when checking in. The card allows free local traveling and discounts on local attractions. But usually these discounts are not much. A rail pass gives you bigger disocunts. At http://www.myswissalps.com/interlaken/hotels you’ll find a link to get more information about the Interlaken guest card. Look for the ‘Information on other websites’ box on the right side of the page.

Other option is that you buy a Saver Day Pass for that day (if you do not have a Swiss Half Fare Card) – and with that card you can travel by boat for free. But to make it worth, you should travel more on that day not just one Interlaken – Thun. Note that Saver Day Passes (http://www.myswissalps.com/saverdaypass) can run out and usually they are cheaper if you buy them well in advance.

Thankyou ! We are only in Interlaken for the day so wont be able to make the most of the Day Saver Pass.

so The cheapest cruise on the lake is @ 45CHF? Even if we only went as far as Spiez Town, or the stop for the Beatus Caves ?

how about going up to Heimwehfluh and riding the Rodelbahn? (Im trying to save costs in hope we can do the Schilthorn excursion with lunch!)

ive also seen a combo package up Harder Kulm in evening with aperitif & dinner for 39.50CHF ? Is this with some discount card? (Seems too cheap if a return ticket up Harder Kulm is 34CHF?)

No, the price depends on the route. For example:

    • Interlaken – Thun is 45 CHF
    • Interlaken – Spiez is 29 CHF

You can check the prices in the SBB timetable. If you are not familiar with the SBB timetable, first have a look at http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable. (Tip: if you are already looking at the SBB timetable, use the advanced timetable and narrow down your search for the boats only. )

The prices of the summer toboggan at Heimwehfluh are here: http://www.heimwehfluh.ch/tickets/

The 39,5 CHF for dinner and aperitif at Harder Kulm is only valid: 15.04.22 – 31.05.22 / 01.09.22 – 23.10.22. During the high season the price is 49.50 CHF.

If you are traveling with family, there is a family day ticket that you might consider if you have kids traveling with you.
