    Hi,

We are 2 adult, 1 child 11 yr and 2nd child 4 yr old. We are arriving in Zurich Switzerland on Fri 28th Aug and returning Tues 1st Sep

    We are staying in Interlaken

For our trip we are staying in Interlaken and want to explore Bernese Oberland region

We are therefore considering to buy 3 day Sat, Sun and Mon regional Bernese Oberland pass as it covers our travel requirements http://www.myswissalps.com/regionalpassberneseoberland/validity

Question is how we transfer from Zurich to Interlaken on Friday and return back from interlaken to Zurich in a most cost effective way.

    Advice appreciated.

    Thanks

    Salman

For Zurich – Interlaken, just go to SBB website and buy either:

    • Saver Day Pass
    • Supersaver ticket

Remember you need a ticket for both outward and return

Hi Salman734, and welcome to MySwissAlps.com!

The Regional-Pass Bernese Oberland (http://www.myswissalps.com/regionalpassberneseoberland) is a great choice for your stay in Interlaken. As for the trip Zurich-Interlaken on the non-covered days: 1960man provided excellent advice. If bought well in advance, a Saver Day Pass can be cheaper than regular tickets. You can find all details and purcchase options at http://www.myswissalps.com/saverdaypass. Supersaver tickets may or may not be available for your preferred date and time of traveling. Explanation can be found at http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/switzerland. And this page explains how to find regular ticket prices, allowing you to compare those to the other options: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable.

Just one last consideration: a 6-day Regional-Pass might be a good fit if you’d like to have the option to make some side trips during your inbound and outbound trip from/to Zurich as well. Your journey would be covered as far as Bern/Lucerne, so you’d still need an additional ticket between Zurich and those towns. The price difference between a 3-day and 6-day Regional-Pass is CHF 100 ind 2nd class (http://www.myswissalps.com/regionalpassberneseoberland/price), and this could be worth it if some side trips are involved.

Here’s how to calculate your options: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have further questions!
