We have two full days in Geneva (July 19 & 20) and wanted to see all of Geneva one day and then try to tour Chillon Castle, go to Gruyeres and tour Cailler Chocolate Factory the second day.

1- Is this possible in one day to see all 3 places? We can make it a really long day 🙂

2- How would we travel to all 3 places with public transportation? We will not have a car.

All three in the same day is just about possible – but with only 2 hours stopover at each of the three locations (imagine you need at least 2 hours to visit an attraction)

May not be good for the health! (around 13 hours journey)

I think we can make it work – Thanks for the help. I looked over the train schedule and it would be a super long day but since it would be our last day – We will probably just go for it and sleep all the way back to the United States on Sunday 🙂

Any highlights in Gruyeres we must see? I think that will be our lunch place so any great restaurants recommended?

Hi Cindy

Gruyeres village is a tiny place dotted with traditional Swiss restaurants and they’re all pretty good.

A good place for lunch is actually the restaurant at the Cheese factory that you would tour on that day anyway: http://www.lamaisondugruyere. ch/restaurant-en/la-maison-du-gruyere-restaurant

A little known fact about Gruyeres is that you can also visit the Giger (Alien museum) http://www.la-gruyere.ch/en/Z10276/m useum-giger. It is free with the Swiss Travel Pass.
