My husband and I are planning the china wedding with our two daughters (age 19 & 16)

    Day 1 Munich to Luzern

Day 2 Luzern to Bern (stop for fews hours sighting) to Interlaken to Grindelwald

Day 3 Grindelwald to Jungfrau to Grindelwald

    Day 4 Grindelwald to Zermatt

Day 5 Zermatt to Matterhorn to Zermatt

Day 6 Zermatt to Basel (stop for fews hours sighting) to Frankfurt

    My questions are:

Can we apply the Swiss Travel Pass Flex for 4 days :

Day 1, 2, 4 and 6 applies Swiss Travel Pass Flex

    (Approx Adult CHF259, Youth CHF215)

    Day 3 To get 25% discount from Swiss Travel Flex (CHF184 * 0.75 = CHF138)

    Day 5 To get 50% discount from Swiss Travel Flex (CHF100 * 0.50 = CHF50)

If not, what is the cheapest rate to apply the above itinerary?

If yes, is it booked through web and print all tickets in advance?

Thank you your advice in advance

Hello Irene and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

If you use the 4-day Swiss Travel Pass Flex on 4 days then any travel you do on the other days will be at full fare. You can’t claim a discount on Jungfraujoch and Gornergrat without using a day from your Flex pass allocation.

You might want to Look at a Swiss Half Fare Card. You would need to do the sums to figure out which Pass is best. See also http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass

ps What is the reference to a Chinese Wedding? Curious.

    Hi Irene,

Yes the Swiss Travel Pass Flex doesn’t work like that – you only get discounts when you use a travel day. The Swiss Half Fare Card or the Swiss Travel Pass (8 day) are probably better options for your itinerary.

Use Rockoyster’s Link to do the math and compare prices and regular tickets with and without a rail pass.
