    Hi,

I’ll be traveling from Lake Como to Grindelwald on June 25 2018 and would like to know how to fully make use of the Swiss Travel Pass before I purchase it eg what is the best route to go from Lake Como to Grindelwald by using STP? Thank you!

Hello chloeysl1234 and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

A Swiss Travel Pass will cover your travel within Switzerland. You just need to get from Como to the Swiss border at Chiasso.

I would suggest you get to Lugano and catch the Gotthard Panorama Express (http://www.myswissalps.com/go tthardpanoramaexpress) but it doesn’t run on Mondays.

But no matter you can follow the same route on regular trains.

Use the Swiss Train Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to plan your travel. If you haven’t used it before it will pay to read the instructions on that page before delving into the timetable.

You should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math. You can use the Swiss Train Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to work out the fares for any trip. When you go to buy a ticket the fare you see on the right hand side of the page will normally be the half-fare price. Double it to get full fare. With A Swiss Travel Pass it is free provided it is shown as free on the Area of Validity map ( PDF downloadable from http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity).

    Hi Rockoyster,

Thank you for your reply. I have just checked the Gotthard Panorama Express Map and it looks like the last stop is at Luzern so from there on we would have to take the regional train(s) to get to Grindelwald. Am I right? Thanks again!

Correct. The most scenic route is Luzern to Interlaken Ost via Meiringen, the first leg of the Golden Pass Line (http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass), then on to Grindelwald. It will be a long day.

Make sure the battery in your camera is fully charged! 😎
