    Choice of Swiss Pass

We are traveling to Switzerland in September. Will be flying into Zurich and taking the train to Kandersteg. We will be there for 6 days and then taking the train to Wengen for 5 days and then back to Zurich to fly home..

We have purchased Swiss cards many times on our visits to Switzerland. They have now changed a bit and we are wondering if it is cost efficient to purchase the least expensive one, the Swiss transfer card and pay out of pocket for the few times we may wan t to take a lift etc…OR is it better to purchase the Swiss Travel Pass and not have to worry about added expenses etc…

we questions whether it may cost more in the long run not to just purchase the more expensive pass. any advice would be appreciated

    Hi SuzReed54,

In order to know which option is most cost-effective for you have a read through: How to choose the best rail pass. There is an attached Excel sheet that will help you do the math when comparing tickets and rail passes. This will work best if you can plan most if not all of your trips when you are here of course.

If flexibility is key you may find in the end that the Swiss Travel Pass is the best option.
You can also read more details about the Swiss Transfer Ticket here as well.
