I am traveling to Switzerland in October and during mid October I’m planning to visit Jungfraujoch being top of the Europe. However, I have 4 year old kid coming with me and not sure if the weather is good for 4 year kid as the weather forecast shows -8 to -10 Degree Celsius during mid Oct. Please advise if anyone have experience traveling with small kids to mountain peaks during this time.

I will be there from October 23 to 26th. I would like to know about the Swiss Travel Pass also.

Hello MinuSajeev and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Nice to hear you’re coming along to Switzerland.

Yes, being on nearly 3’500 meters above sea level the weather can be fairly cold on the Jungfraujoch. However, you are not in these temperatures for the entire time, as there is a heated building and restaurants serving warm food there too.

From my experience as a tour guide children above toddler age are fine, of course, cold, but that’s part of the experience.

I’ll attach the medical recommendations of the Jungfraujoch FYI.

I’ve been in the Lauterbrunnen-Wengen area in mid to late October and these places are pretty dead due to hotel and restaurant closures (it’s the low season between summer and winter skiing). Interlaken is uninteresting, but Grindelwald wound make a reasonable base given the time of year.
