It’s such awesome news. I’m currently in Switzerland and just cancelled my test for next week. Hallelujah!!!!!
TurgonParticipant36 posts10 June 2022 at 21:42:20 #943109The restriction is lifted as of June 12, not July 12.
Maloja_SnakeParticipant82 posts10 June 2022 at 22:09:22 #943110Why is this good news?! Honestly, the denialism surrounding Covid risks feels like the stupidist responses that the USA could pronouce. And I’m writing from the US. Personally, I would appreciate honesty. If it is risky to ride a 30 minute train ride, on an unmonitored Swiss train segment, I want to know; just as I want to know what my risks are in NYC taking a train from Manhattan to Staten Island. Could Europeans Be more honest…I feel like we are all living in wishful thinking… Doesn’t anyone else agree? I understand that MYSWISSALPS is probably funded by Swiss Government money; but seriously, at what costs to individual travelers?
EASWParticipant121 posts10 June 2022 at 23:13:14 #943111I am writing as a U.S. citizen and as a nurse, who has totally seen the impact COVID has had nationally and globally. I am happy with this decision because in a country like the U.S. where the COVID rates are still quite high, I felt it was a bit ridiculous for the U.S. to require a negative test to enter the from other countries where the rate of infection was substantially lower. We are far more likely to be exposed to COVID right here in the states than elsewhere. No one should fly if they feel ill, of course, that’s a given. And I am saying this as someone who has been vaccinated, boostered times 2 and came down with COVID two months ago, despite taking precautions. So no denialism going on here.

Could you or one of the other board monitors correct the heading on my first post to show that is June 12th, not July 12th, that the testing requirements have been lifted? Many thanks – so sorry for the error as I meant June, not July.

You wrote “I understand that MYSWISSALPS is probably funded by Swiss Government money“.
Just wanted to reassure you that we’re not. We’re travelers and locals, and we’re completely independent: http://www.myswissalps.com/aboutus.

LastlookParticipant183 posts11 June 2022 at 13:21:03 #943118I totally agree and am also a U.S. Citizen, fully vaccinated and double boosted. Not having to worry about the inconvenience and expense of a possible quarantine at the end of a long awaited vacation is a huge relief (I have not traveled in more than two years.) There are so many potential complications such as missing work, arranging for additional pet care, home care and so forth. I also have a loved one in long term care that I need to get home to on schedule. I take Covid seriously, but am ready to live with the risks while being responsible with mask wearing when required as well as when I feel it is wise.
