Email, call, or stop by the local tourist office. They are very helpful and they will know. We were in Lauterbrunnen this time last year and several families brought their cows and trucks of cheese through town. It was a lot of fun.

If you are into these parades, called “la désalpe” in French-speaking areas, consider going to Lignières in the canton of Neuchâtel on Saturday, September 22. I try to go every year and plan to be there again in 10 days ! This is the 43rd désalpe, and the theme this year is “Le Vent des Alpes” (The Wind of the Alps). The big parade (cortège) starts at 2 PM but there are all kinds of other activities. Here is their website: http://www.fetedeladesalpe.ch / On the attached map, I have placed a red oval to show the location of Lignières.

Today is the big day for la Fête de la désalpe up in Lignières, NE. See my post directly above this one. The skies are mainly blue so it should be a wonderful day. Anybody in the general area should make an effort to get up. You won’t be disappointed ! I plan to get there later this morning.
