Hi Lucas
Glad you went up the Zugerberg — we have done that trip and really enjoyed it. It was on my list of less well known places to visit as several places have their own “Hausberg” or local mountain and I wanted to go to as many as I could. Did you try the roesti at the restaurant at the top? Or the local cherry tart?

unfortunately the funicular was closed for maintenance this week (and the restaurant was closed for summer holidays) so I was out of luck.
The bus ride to the top was pretty fun though!

The views over the lake from up there are lovely. Mike did a circular trail with wood carvings of animals along the way. It was a hot day when we were up there too – part of the reason for going up high!
By the way – I thought you said you were now in Berlin not Zurich any more?

Yes, I’m in Berlin but it is a short and cheap flight to visit Switzerland. 🙂 Visited some friends and made a day trip to Grindelwald as well – 2 trip reports coming this weekend.

Berlin is one of our favourite places (outside Switzerland!). Our daughter spent 3 and a half years there doing post-doc research at the Max Planck Institute and we visited her there 5 times staying in her apartment so became quite well-acquainted with the city. (She had previously spent 15 months doing research at Guelph University, Ontario! Our first ever flight was to visit her there in 2000 – rather a long flight for our first experience! But it did create a wish to do more international travel – hence our first visit to Switzerland in 2001.) I know this is a Swiss Forum so my apologies for the diversion but if you want some ideas about Berlin feel free to ask! We also did a Christmas market trip there some years later.

It was a bit of a surprise relocation (new job for my wife) but we both really like the city (and it is refreshingly cheap here). 🙂
My wife grew up not far from Berlin so we’ve visited the city many times before moving here and loved it. If it is was any other city we wouldn’t have moved.
I’m very much looking forward to the Christmas market season here! 🙂
If anyone else has Neuchatel tips (not for me anymore, but in general for anyone) please do keep this thread going!
