Hi Linda,
Unfortunately the funicular is not operating on the days you mention. It re-opens 28 April.
The trips Lucas mentioned go via Brünnen and the cablecar from Morschach.
Removed userParticipant72625 posts25 January 2018 at 9:16:15 #874740Ah yes, I forgot the darn thing is closed from April 3-28 for maintenance already! Shame as it just opened.
When you check the timetable as I suggested it shows a cable car not the funicular on April 21 (in case you want to visit Stoos anyway but I’m guessing the funicular was the point!)
Be careful with mountain transport in April and May as temporary closures happen – the timetable will show you the method of transport available though and if there are no alternatives to get there it will show “no connections available”.
Happy travels

Sorry to hear this news. Guess I will need to go with plan b ….go to Uetliberg via train, take the panoramic trail to Felsenegg and then take the cable car to Adliswill and train back to Zurich. Fingers crossed the weather will co-operate. Thanks again.

Happy travels!

AdelaideanParticipant121 posts27 January 2018 at 9:03:44 #874744what a great daytrip, thanks Lucas. Such a futuristic funicular, too.
We had a fun cablecar ride in the Dolomites, not very modern but exciting…
we called them the ‘coffin’ lifts LOL
Removed userParticipant72625 posts27 January 2018 at 9:07:12 #874745I’ve always wanted to go to the Dolomites..one day soon I hope! That cable car would give me pause though….
AdelaideanParticipant121 posts27 January 2018 at 9:39:49 #874746It is so funny, Lucas, the cablecars don’t stop so there’s a guy who shoves you on board … you can’t move once in, either. And you really do get very close to the other person in that cablecar, so best it be someone you know well (or want to get to know well). 😀

It’s a shame a good portion of the trip is in a tunnel.

My son is an aerospace engineer and he is going to absolutely love this place. Just the thought of what went in to the entire transportation system in Switzerland is jaw dropping. omg the Stoos Standseilbahn

Looks like an amazing trip it was. I plan to visit Stoos on this amazing funicular. When I check the railway timetable for this trip from Engelberg on sbb.ch, on the last leg it says
Schwyz Stoosbahn (Talstation) -> Stoos using Funicular 22 with a trip duration of 8 minutes. Is this the funicular that you have photographed?
Regards,
Removed userParticipant72625 posts5 May 2018 at 15:51:00 #874751Hi NeoGlad,
Yup it is. Don’t worry about the # (22 or 24 etc) you just want to funicular from Stoosbahn Talstation to Stoos. Have a good trip – it was fun!

charwineloveParticipant53 posts18 May 2018 at 9:24:33 #874754Altitude adjustment…..Jungfraujoch, or funicular, etc.,
Our first higher altitude experience will be Mt. Rigi, then Gorregrnut in Zermatt, then Jungfrau and Schilthorn….any suggestions on preparations or things to do after if any altitude issues?
PeterliParticipant1206 posts18 May 2018 at 15:03:04 #874755Hello.
I think it would be best if you post your question in a new thread with your own title. You are far more likely to get responses that way.
Removed userParticipant72625 posts19 May 2018 at 0:37:51 #874756A new thread is always best. 🙂 But quickly:
Best thing to do to my knowledge is to simply return down the mountain if you are having any difficulties.
It is often an issue for newborns or the elderly but have a look at the medical tips from Jungfraujoch’s website: https://www.jungfrau.c h/en-gb/faq/#7048PeterliParticipant1206 posts29 July 2018 at 6:16:34 #874757Hello people in this thread.
I know the last post in this thread about the new Stoss funicular was over two months ago, but I just came across a new-posted video on VeeR.tv which is entitled ” Swiss Alps: the steepest funicular railway “. You can watch it at veer.tv/videos/swiss-alps-steepest-funicular-railway-197377 There is a nice commentary with Swiss music, and you can watch it all full screen by clicking on the two arrows at the bottom right of the video window.
