hi I am stopping in Zurich for 3 nights in December. On the first afternoon I arrive go to the Christmas markets. Second day a day trip to Mt Titlis or Jungfrau (day trip from Zurich) and last full day Lucerne and Rapperswil.

Which is better Mt Titlis or Jungfrau? Will be traveling with a 6yo and should I book now or when I arrive?

Hello Tashaturtle and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Nice to hear you’re coming along to Switzerland!

Both Mount Titlis and the Jungfraujoch have their thrill, the main difference is the duration in arriving and the mode of transportation, as you reach Mount Titlis by cable car and the Jungfraujoch by cogwheel train, this might influence your choice.

To both mountains you can also take guided tours from Zurich, which could be an option for you due to the limited time. Check the packages tab of above links for details.

You can book tours and also regular tickets to all destinations upon arrival or in advance if it makes you feel more comfortable.

To find out about required travelling time of individual travel to the mountains and to find out about connections between Zurich – Lucerne and Zurich – Rapperswil, use the timetable below:

Rapperswil is a fantastic choice in the Zurich area, it’s a wonderful medieval town on the far end of the Lake of Zurich, I love it!
