Hi jchaluh,

Welcome to MySwissAlps.

From my understanding VIking Cruise requires all guests to provide negative PCR test before boarding. You can find a list of recognised test centers from its website: www.vikingcruises.com/oceans/my-trip/health-and-safety/covid-19-testing.html I am not too sure about the pricing. You will have to enquire with the Viking customer service, who will surely have more accurate information.

Regards,

Anna

Hi Jwd226,

Lucerne Tourism has created a FAQ page for travellers. You'll find some useful links and the answers to your questions here: www.luzern.com/en/services/coronavirus/no_cache/1/

You can also refer to the first post of this thread for detailed information about how and where to get the Covid certificate (under section #7).

Regards,

Anna

Hi Beautiful people, I am travelling to Lucerne on Nov. 1 from Manchester UK for holiday until Nov. 8, I am a british passport holder and I have my vaccination and a booster jab. I will land in Zurich Airport, do they required a PCR test or antigen test upon arrival? or vaccination certificate from NHS (UK health system) is sufficient and no need for test and quarantine.

Thank you.

Norman

Hi Norman, welcome to MySwissAlps!

Under the current rules, there's no need for testing and/or quarantine upon arrival for you. You do need to fill out a digital Passenger Locator Form, and you'll have to be able to show proof of your vaccination. You should also apply for a Swiss COVID-certificate to enter public spaces in Switzerland.

All details and relevant links can be found in the 1st post of this thread (www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/does-the-corona-virus-affect-trips-to-switzerland). I hope that the information provided there is helpful. Let us know if you have further questions!

Hi Norman! Please refer to the information under #7 at the link I provided. It explains how you can try to apply for the certificate using one of the cantonal websites. A nation-wide application system should be available before your travel date, but as far as I can tell it's not available yet. As soon as it is, we'll add the link to our first post of this thread.

Hi Annika,

I am traveling to Switzerland in early December. Should I wait until after Oct. 24 to apply for the covid certificates? The website is kind of confusing.

Hi Johnsonkelly,

As your trip is more than a few weeks away, it's probably best to wait until the centralised system becomes operational on Oct 24th. We'll update this thread as soon as the site becomes available. In the meantime, you'd probably like to read what documents you need to obtain a Swiss Covid certificate. You need these when you submit your application (refer to the first post, #7)

Anna

Anna,

I am traveling to Switzerland (Zurich) next Tuesday 20 October from the US. It is still unclear to me about how to procure the Swiss COVID Certificate. I am fully vaccinated (Moderna). Also, do I need to fill out any forms for entering Switzerland?

Hi Bsphoto22,

As mentioned previously, a centralised system for travellers vaccinated abroad to obtain a Swiss Covid certificate will only be available after 24 October. In the meantime, your foreign vaccination card is valid to access facilities or events requiring a COVID certificate. Once the system is running, you can apply for the Swiss Covid certificate online. Documents required to obtain this include the following: copy of passport, confirmation of vaccination (e.g. vaccination certificate with details of the holder, administered vaccines, the institution that performed the vaccination, date of last vaccination, number of doses received, existing certificate if applicable), proof of arrival (e.g. plane ticket or train ticket) and proof of temporary address (e.g. hotel booking).

Before entering Switzerland, you need to fill out an entry form. You can find the link here ( under section #1 Can I visit Switzerland).

Hope this provides you with some answers.

Regards,

Anna

Hi Anna,

Thank you for your reply. I will be in Switzerland until 1 November so I need to get the certificate before leaving?

Hi Bsphoto22,

You need the certificate to access certain places such as restaurants and indoor facilities and events such as bars, leisure centres and museums. Some hotels might also ask for it, please check with your accommodation provider. You don't need a certificate to use public transportation or shopping in a supermarket. This is explained clearly in the first post of this thread.

Regards,

Anna

Hi NannyNorman,

If you can't wait, you can submit your application now to one of the cantonal websites listed here (refer point #7), preferably where you'll be staying temporarily during your visit. You will get an email if the submission is successful. The application could take from a few hours to a few days.

Regards,

Anna

I was asking where I can get the certificate since I am staying until 1 November. I go to Canton website and it's not in English.

Hi Bsphoto22,

Sorry. Unfortunately, most of the cantonal websites are only available in German, French and Italian. Using Google Translate may be helpful. If this is not convenient, it might be best to wait until 24 October to submit the application for the Covid certificate through the central platform. We will update the link as soon as it goes live.

In the meantime, you should have no problem using your foreign vaccination certificate. If you need the Swiss Covid certificate during your trip after this transitional phase, you could apply online or submit the documents in person. There should be a centre to do this in each canton too and we will update this information when it becomes available.

Regards,

Anna

We just returned from a wonderful trip to Switzerland and were able to use our CDC cards. They were checked in every restaurant, quite carefully. Prior to leaving we thought we were going to need the Swiss Covid certificate and so we applied through the Canton of Bern We were able to use Google translate on a laptop, it didn’t work well for the application on an iPad or iPhone. The biggest glitch we had was trying to enter our phone number and country code. Since the format of our numbers in the US are different from the Swiss it kept rejecting it. We finally just used the phone number of the hotel we were staying at and that worked fine. We were then lucky to have the requirements change and allow us to use our CDC cards while we were there but it is very stressful for anyone with an upcoming trip I’m sure.
