    Hi

We are couple travelling to Switzerland for 4 days. Our plan goes like this:

    – April 16th – Reaching Zurich and spending a day there. (Not very sure about places to go around. Suggestions are needed)

    – April 17th – Starting from Zurich for Interlaken : Take train from Zurich(11:04 am) to Lucern (11:49pm) and then change train from Lucern(12:05 pm) to Interlaken(1:55 pm). We intend to do so as we wanted to go through the Golden Pass Route. We would be travelling with luggage, Is this train ride advisable?

After reaching Interlaken, I wish to take boat ride in Lake Thun and also explore Thun a bit? Where can I check Boat time-table? The link for sbb.ch does not give me option for boat and bus time-table.

April 18th – Going for Jungfrau visit. Where shall we buy tickets? Is there an option to buy it now online? After Jungfrau, would we have time for anything else in evening? Any dinner cruise suggested?

April 19th – Travel to Mt. Titlis. start from Interlaken (8:00am) to Engelberg (11:00am) From there, take gondola trip to Titlis. Do you suggest to buy tickets in advance?

April 20th – Planning to take Brienzer Rothorn trip by steam train. From Interlaken, takefirst train along the Golden Pass route, via Brienz and Meiringen, to Giswil. Change to the postbus along the Glaubenbielen Pass to the valley station of the cable car, just before the village of Sörenberg. (not sure about time table). Take the cable car up to the Brienzer Rothorn and take the cogwheel train down to Brienz. Walk over to the boat dock and take a boat to Interlaken.

We want to complete this trip by afternoon as we would take train to chur and then take train to Tirano. (Bernia express).

We are buying STP. Are all train travels (except Jungfrau and titlis trip) covered by Swiss Travel Pass or shall we buy any other pass for this trip?

Please send your suggestions. Our travel date is quite near.

    Thanks

    Shambhavi

    Hye,

To check boat timetable, you have to do an advanced search at sbb webpage. Click advanced search, clear all the modes of transportation and choose boat only. Then you will get the boat timetable.

    Hi Shambhavi, welcome to MySwissAlps!

April 16: please see the Zurich page to find things to do.

April 17: the Golden Pass route is the most scenic option to get there, please see the Golden Pass page. Luggage is not an issue. Khairin explained how to get the boat timetable. An alternative is to check our Lake Thun page under “More on other websites”.

April 18: See the Interlaken page for things to do, and the Jungfrau page (Tickets tab) for all ticket information.

April 19: Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the spot, please see the Titlis page (Tickets tab).

April 20: I don’t think you can do all that in one day. Please see the Brienzer Rothorn page and the timetable to check.

You can print the Swiss Travel Pass at home through http://www.swissrailways.com/ en. After filling out your address, they will show the delivery options. Pick “Online Ticket” from the bottom of the list. They will e-mail the pass within 1-3 business days (no delivery fees). What’s included in the pass can be found here: myswissalps.com/swisst ravelpass/validity. Other purchase options are listed here.

    Hi Arno

Thanks a lot for you response.I still have few doubts. Would love if you help.

April 17: Getting time table is still an issue. I could not get on sbb.ch and the link which you suggested has the time table but not in English

April 19: If we purchase tickets for Jungfrau and Titlis on the spot or online now , will the amount differ? Hope availability would not be an issue. What do you suggest? Book now or on spot.

April 20: Anything else you suggest to utilize the first half. I would be leaving Interlaken at 1PM (Train to chur to take Brienzer Rothorn trip till tirano)

    Many thanks in advance

    Hi Shambhavi,

It’s weird that you don’t get an English timetable. The timetable we had on this page indeed does not work at the moment, but there is a link under “Timetable for all Swiss public transport” that should direct you to the English timetable. Is that what you tried?

Online ticket prices are mostly exactly the same amount, but they can also be slightly higher or lower depending on where you buy and in which currency. Please see the Jungfraujoch page and Titlis page for links and suggestion on where and when to buy.

If you leave early a trip to Mürren might work. You’ll find more details on the Schiltorn page. It’s free with the Swiss Travel Pass if you skip the Schilthorn itself. Note that if you leave Interlaken at 1PM you’ll reach Tirano just after sunset with a portion of the trip in the shade of the mountains. Still wonderful, but not ideal perhaps.
