    Hi Arno and Annika,

Thank you for creating such a wonderful platform that helps tourists like us.

We are planning to visit Switzerland for 9 days and 8 nights from 5th to 13th May.

We are planning to stay in Wengen (3 nights), Zermatt (2 nights) and Lucerne (3 nights). Please find our planned itinerary below.

5th May 2018- Reaching Zurich at 11 am, Rhine falls, night stay in Wengen.

6th May 2018- Jungfrau, exploring Interlaken, night stay in Wengen.

7th May 2018- Lauterbrunnen, Trummelbach waterfall, night stay in Wengen.

8th May 2018- Early morning train from Wengen to Zermatt, Gornergrat, night stay in Zermatt.

9th May 2018- Matterhorn, night stay in Zermatt.

10th May 2018- Morning train to Lucerne, explore Lucerne, boating, night stay in Lucerne.

11th May 2018- Engelberg, Mt. Titlis, night stay in Lucerne.

12th May 2018- Mt. Pilates, Mt. Rigi, night stay in Lucerne.

13th May 2018- Morning flight from Zurich.

We are planning to do all our travelling using Swiss travel pass.

Can you please advise if there are any other places that we should not miss :)? Or are there any other places that you would suggest for night stays. We have made a conscious effort to make sure that we stay at only a few places so that we do not have to check in and check out too often.

    Thanks

    Saurabh

Hi Saurabh, and welcome to MySwissAlps!

    >> 6th May 2018- Jungfrau, exploring Interlaken, night stay in Wengen.

Interlaken itself has the least to offer of any town in the Jungfrau Region in my opinion. It’s a good transport hub and has a lot of shops, restaurants and hotels, but has little charm. Personally, I would give it a miss.

Any free time you have on this day would be well spent in Grindelwald or Mürren.

    >> 9th May 2018- Matterhorn, night stay in Zermatt.

Do you mean the cableway to Klein Matterhorn/Glacier Paradise? This is not actually the Matterhorn, but is a viewing point for seeing the Matterhorn from a distance.

The cableway from Trockener Steg to Klein Matterhorn is closed for maintenance from 30 April until 11 May. You would be able to go there if you were able to rearrange your itinerary to do this on 12 May instead.

    >> 12th May 2018- Mt. Pilates, Mt. Rigi, night stay in Lucerne.

The cogwheel train from Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm usually reopens between the beginning and middle of May. It may or may not be operating by 12 May this year. If it is not operating, you can go up and back on the cableway from Kriens.

On your date of travel, you can check the operating status of the cogwheel before setting out:

Otherwise, your itinerary looks good. Have a great trip!
