End of May in Lauterbrunnen Valley with kids?

Any help with suggestions for itinerary planning most appreciated….

I am hoping to plan a visit with my 8 year old in late May to the Lauterbrunnen Valley by train. We would love to explore the villages, short (1-3 hour) family friendly hikes with visits to the mountain playgrounds and mountain slides. Is mid to late May too early to experience this type of vacation in the Lauterbrunnen Valley or similar area? We were planning on adding a couple days in Bern but the highlight of our trip would be to take in the spectacular scenery of the Alps without too many closures or being too cold to experience the child-friendly highlights.

Any sample itineraries for a week to 10 days, highlights not to be missed with kids at this time of year or suggested alternative would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi JulesCanada,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

Summer activities in the Jungfrau region including Lauterbrunnen usually start in June. However by late May you should be able to access the following mountaintop destinations all of which feature adventure playgrounds for children.

You will also find local playgrounds in the villages (Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald and Wengen).

You can find more sightseeing options for your itinerary here: http://www.myswissalps.com/lauterbrunnen/activities

    Hope this gets you started.

    Regards,

    Anna
