Hello swiss, travelers! We are traveling throughout Europe, and will be visiting the Berner Oberland area as our only stop in Switzerland. We will be traveling from Paris, heading to the Lauterbrunnen area, then heading North to Prague and Amsterdam – all by train.

Can we use the Eurail global pass to travel all the way to the Lauterbrunnen area (Murren) and is this the best option – or would Swiss Pass be better – and would we be able to use it beginning in Paris? Thank you all in advance. BTW; we are there May-June 2023.

    Hello Kate6,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

How exciting to be traveling through Europe. Please take a look at the Eurail coverage map below. You will be able to see, where and what is included with your Eurail Pass. Within, you will also see an additional map, displaying the coverage in Switzerland. Travel to Lauterbrunnen area would be discounted with your Eurail Pass. Paris to Switzerland is also covered.

If you are only traveling in the Berner Oberland area, then perhaps the Berner Oberland Pass would a good option for you. More information here:

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda

No, buying a Eurail pass and a Swiss Travel Pass is unnecessary duplication. Eurail pass gives free travel on all main lines and discounts on many Swiss mountain routes
