We are arriving evening around 4.30pm in Lauterbrunnen. After checkin, are there any family friendly activities / hikes / sightseeing we can do for couple hours? Not interested in shopping or restaurants.

What time of the year will you be there?

Lauterbrunnen is a small village with some small hotels/inns. You can walk the town in a half hour. 4:30 may be too late to start hiking far away from town, again depending on time of year. If you have the Swiss Travel Pass, you could take the train up to Wengen (about 12 min trip for free) to walk about town and get a different perspective of the mountains and a good view down to Lauterbrunnen. Or you could start a walk outside Lauterbrunnen and admire the mountains surrounding you. There’s a road the goes through town so you can choose which of two directions to go. Not sure about “family friendly activities” in Lauterbrunnen in the evening. For example in mid October, there are no evening activities since most hotels close between seasons and the place is dead.

Hello Chai. Apart from pvonk’s excellent recommendations, there’s also the option to take the cable car up to to Grütschalp (myswissalps.com/schilt horn/gettingthere) for a view over the valley. It operates until about 20h30 in summer season.
