Hello CharlieW6,
Welcome to MySwissAlps. That’s great to hear you and your family are planning a trip to Switzerland!
In case you have not found a hotel near Geneva airport, here is our guide to hotels in the airport vicinity: https://www.myswissalps.com/genevaairporthotels
That’s lovely you are visiting Chillon Castle, in case you needed any other ideas whilst in the Geneva area, take a look here:
Your plans sound good. Whilst Mürren is a lovely part of the Jungfrau region, it is a little isolated in terms of accessing the other places you are wanting to also visit. If you are Ok with taking the cable car to the bottom of the valley each day, then you will do just fine 🙂 Perhaps use the timetable link so you can gauge journey times: https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable
Here are a few useful links for you to read, you will find additional information and activities in the Jungfrau region, hikes, where to stay, how to travel around:
You can plan your journey to Locarno via the timetable link too but some information in the meantime. The 2 main train routes for Mürren-Locarno would be:
1. via Lucerne and Bellinzona, using either the quicker Gotthard Base Tunnel or the slower and more scenic Gotthard mountain route https://www.myswissalps.com/gotthardpanoramaexpress
2. via Brig, Domodossola and the Centovalli route to Locarno https://www.myswissalps.com/centovalli, using either the quicker Lötschberg Base Tunnel or the slower and more scenic Lötschberg mountain route https://www.myswissalps.com/lotschberger
Likewise, if you needed extra information regarding the Ticino region: https://www.myswissalps.com/ticino
In terms of your travel, that’s good you are thinking about the Swiss Travel Pass, I am unsure when you are visiting Switzerland but there is a promotion for the Swiss Travel Pass soon, essentially, you will be given extra day(s) depending on the pass you purchase. More information here: https://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/the-swiss-travel-pass-spring-2023-promotion
Be sure to apply for the Swiss Family Card when you buy your Swiss Travel Pass, as all your daughters will be eligible to travel for free with you. 🙂 https://www.myswissalps.com/swissfamilycard
For travel to Italy from Switzerland, you can read all about it here: https://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/italy and do use the timetable link above to plan your route.
I hope this helps, please feel free to reach out with any further questions.
Kind regards,
Yolanda
