We are off to Wengen on Tuesday for 7 days and making notes about where to visit to include some places we didn’t get to when we were last there 2 years ago. On our list is Grindlewald, we have the Swiss Travel Pass this time ( half fare last time) and can’t work out if we need to pay anything for a train ticket from Wengen to Grindlewald, that is train all way & not via Mannlichen. We’ll probably do the Mannlichen as a separate trip. Thanks in advance!

    Hey fleurette!

With the swiss travel pass, you won’t need to buy anything from Wengen to Grindelwald, provided you take the route via lauterbrunnen and zweilutschinen (2 changes). You will have to pay 50% of the price if you go via Kleine scheidegg or via mannlichen. Check out the timetables on the SBB app. They’re the most helpful.

Check this link out and download the validity map to see which routes are free with the swiss travel pass.

    Hope this helps! Enjoy!

Really sorry, but if you go via Kleine scheidegg, it’s just 25% off.

    Hi fleurette,

Yes, it really depends on the route you take – be sure to go over the PDF map that Jay linked to above and use the timetable here to plan the route.

    Cheers!

Thank you Jay & Lucas, all is clear now. We’ll take the train travel option, the pass is expensive enough so using it for the whole journey makes sense.

Really looking forward to coming to Switzerland again, my son who will be with us has a paragliding flight booked so we are hoping for clear weather!

    With thanks
