Hello! My wife and I will be staying in Lauterbrunnen with our 18 year old son May 23-28. We are avid hikers and would like to hike in the Lauterbrunnen as well as the Grindelwald/First areas. We would also like to make the trip up to the Jungfraujoch. We are trying to decide if it is worth purchasing one of the various passes, as we have heard that a number of the Gondola's may be closed during our visit. Is there somewhere that we might be able to find definitive information on this, or is dependent on the weather? Thank you!

Hello wmansfie,

Much will be open, there will be plenty to do for the 6 days you're there. However, higher trails will still be covered in snow and thus inaccessible. If there's no snow, trails can still be muddy. But there are plenty of lower trails to explore, viewing points to visit and boat trips to do. Ideas can be found here.

All public transport schedules, including cable cars, can be found in the national timetable. So if you know the location names you would like to go to, you can check there. The websites below are also helpful:
