We will be traveling from Munich and have a 3 day Swiss Pass. What is the best train/bus to get to from Munich to a Swiss train station so we may use our pass from that point forward to Lucerne?

3 Days is this really possible?

Day 1 Sept. 18- Munich to Lucerne (stay overnight Lucerne)

Day 2 Sept 19- Lucerne (Mt Rigi, Mt. Pilatus) then onto Montreux (stay overnight Montreux)

Day 3 Sept 20 – Montreux to Zermatt – Peak2Peak pass, travel last train from Zermatt to Zurich Airport. Fly back to Pennsylvania on 21st noon.

I know it’s ambitious especially since we are all over 60 years of age. We will have just completed two week motorcycle trip from Munich through Riva del Garda, Venice, Bologna, Florence, Terian, Rome, Sardinia, Livorno, Milan, Bellagio Como, Tettnang (Germany), Munich.

We will spend October sleeping.

If you are coming from Munich to Lucerne this will help you: http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/germany. I think it will tell you all the information you need on how to buy your train ticket if you have a Swiss Travel Pass. (In brief: you need to buy your ticket just from Munich to the border while your Swiss Travel Pass is valid from the Swiss border to Lucerne. If you want a seat reservation you need to purchase that separately, because seat reservations are not included in the Swiss rail passes. Pilatus and Rigi are possible in one long day: http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/visit-mt-rigi-and-mt-pilatus-in-one-day. You’ll arrive at Montreux quite late. From Lucerne to Montreux you can travel on the Golden Pass route: http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass.

Montreux – Zermatt takes around 2,5-3 hours by train (http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable). This will be also a very long day, but I think it is still doable.
