I read that from Lauterbrunnen there is a suggested itinerary that would visit Grutschalp, Murren, Stechelburg, Wengen, Kleine Scheidegg, and Grindelwald. This itinerary would include cable car, train, and bus transportation, and allows for hiking in between. What is the best way and most cost effective way to plan this? I started looking at point to point train travel, but schedules for early May are not loaded yet. Would appreciate anyone’s guidance. Thanks!

    Hello Corky

From Lauterbrunnen the circuit to do is to Grütschalp (cable car), Mürren (train), Gimmelwald (cable car), Stechelberg (cable car), Lauterbrunnen (bus). From Mürren you can easily visit Schiltorn if you have time. In between Stechelberg and Lauterbrunnen the bus stops at the Trummelbach Falls. Well worth a look. All these places are searcheable on the MySwissAlps website.

Use the SBB Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to plan your travel. If you are not familiar with using the timetable it will pay to first read the instructions on that page.

The entire circuit including a side trip to Schilthorn is free with the Swiss Travel Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass). Using a Saver Day Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass and bit.ly/2rkekat) you can do the whole thing but would need to pay full-fare to visit Schilthorn from Mürren.

Wengen is reached by returning to Lauterbrunnen and proceeding from their to Kleine Scheidegg. Beyond Wengen you get a 25% discount with STP but no discount with SDP.

    Hope that helps.

How would the half fare card do for that itinerary? I am planning something similar. Thanks

Fine. You’d get 50% off ALL point to point tickets. A Saver Day Pass (I mentioned earlier is only CHF29 at best price with a SHFC) so that might work out even cheaper for other than Schilthorn and Kleine Scheidegg or Jungfraujoch.
