General and specific budget tips for Switzerland?

I’m waking at 3 a.m. with wallet anxiety over my upcoming Switzerland trip.

Can anyone give me some insider budget tips, primarily for eating and daily incidentals? I’d like to eat at a restaurant every other night, using take away pizza and sandwiches the other days, as well as CoOp cafeterias.

I’ve already mortgaged the house for a 15 day Swiss Pass, so transportation and many museums are already covered, and I’ve booked hostels and others reasonably priced lodging.

I’ll be rail hopping all around the country, but will be spending time specifically in Bern, Zurich, and Luzern.

Bring on your best insider tips! I know that I can make this work somehow!

Hi AdelaideF and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I think the Coop or Migros meal purchases will save you the most money. Pizzas aren’t too cheap either here. Always find the house brand as well (noted on the link below).

We do have a list of budget-saving ideas on our website as well, see if that helps and let us know if you have more questions: http://www.myswissalps.com/pl antrip/doityourself/sa vemoney
