Hi, I will be travelling to Geneve from Paris by train.

If I have goods with me from Paris that I would like to claim tax refund by EU country (ie. France), is there a custom counter at the Geneve Cornavin Station where I can get the tax refund documents stamped by the EU? If so, may I know the location of the counter at the Geneve Station and its opening hours?

Also, is there any custom requirements for bringing food into Switzerland from Paris? I may purchase some chocolate, wine etc. from Paris and want to know if I am allowed to bring these into Switzerland.

    Hi Miamiali,

There is no French /EU customs counter in Geneva station that I am aware of. Not even a Swiss one. If you need an EU stamp you’ll need to do so before you leave France.

You can find a list of Swiss customs offices here: https://www.ezv.admin. ch/ezv/en/home/teaser-homepage/focus-teaser/customs-office-opening-hours-in-new-app.html

There are Swiss customs offices in Geneva but not at Cornivan. Geneva airport would be the easiest option I think.

You can find travel import limits on food etc here: https://www.ezv.admin. ch/ezv/en/home/informa tion-individuals.html

PS It makes no sense to import chocolate INTO Switzerland. The best chocolate is here, not Paris 😉

and you should take advantage of buying the excellent Swiss wine when in Switzerland, as very little Swiss wine is exported outside the country. You will pass right next to some of the Geneva vineyards as you arrive in Swiss territory from Paris.

There is a skeleton customs staff at Geneva as you pass through the ‘border’ in the station between the platform and the concourse. It used to have a tax desk but I don’t know if it still operates
