Hi Frappuccino,
It gets dark late in summer so 6pm is pretty much broad daylight in Geneva. Most shops close about 7pm and I think this is the best time to explore the city on foot or stroll around the lake and enjoy a 360 degree views of the fountain (the fountain starts at 9am) . You can also arrange to go on a boat trip on Lake Geneva. A round trip from Geneva takes about 1 hour. You can find links to the boat timetables here: https://www.myswissalps.com/boatlakegeneva/gettingthere.
Let us know if you need more information.
Regards,
Anna

I have been travelling past the UN in Geneva on the local bus to my family on and off for 60 years ! So I know the area well.
The broken chair is intriguing, but I don’t think it is worth a visit if you are short of time. The UN building was imposing when I was a youngster, but is now fronted by rows of security fences , spoiling the overall effect.

Hi Frappuccino,
Most of that plan sounds doable, but note that the regular 1-hour boat trips that start and end in Geneva don’t depart later than 16:20.
Often special (dinner) cruises are available later than that, but they require reservations and additional costs: see “Dining on board of boats” at http://www.myswissalps.com/activities/culinary/dineonthemove.
Another option would be to take a later boat in the direction of Hermance/Yvoire, and then return to Geneva by train/bus/boat: whichever option suits your exact plan best. This is probably too long, as you were looking for a short roundabout trip. But if you are interested: you’ll find route suggestions at https://www.myswissalps.com/boatlakegeneva and https://www.myswissalps.com/boatlakegeneva/gettingthere, and you can use the Swiss timetable to plan such trips in detail: https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable.
