My wife & I have a lingering question… Will Glacier 3000 be worth our time & effort to get there? We’ve seen the pictures, videos & reviews, so we know it will be breathtaking. We will be on a 15-Day Swiss Travel Pass in September and Our Hesitation Involves Two Things:

    1. Prior to going to Glacier 3000, we plan to have already visited Mount Pilatus in Lucerne, the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise in Zermatt, and also Jungfraujoch & First (during our 5 days in Lauterbrunnen). Will it be more of similar things we’ve already seen?

    2. We only have two nights in Montreux and a visit to Glacier 3000 would have to be “squeezed” into our train travel between Lauterbrunnen (8:30) & Montreux (19:13). a) which involves a 2hr-20min trip to Gstaad (w/ 2 changes) and a 34 minute bus ride to Col-du-Pillon. Return to Gstaad (by bus) and then a 1hr-36min train to Montreux. b) Will 4 hours be plenty of time at Glacier 3000?

We would appreciate any feedback from those who have visited Glacier 3000 and/or have knowledge of it or the journey. Thank You.

    Hi Art2164,

If you have have the time, Glacier 3000 is definitely worth a visit.

Have a look at this thread:

    http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/day-trip-to-glacier-3000-near-gstaad

Most visitors sepnd about 1 to 2 hours at the top and combine their visit with a side trip to Gstaad. So if visiting Gstaad anyway, Glacier 3000 is a great addition.

    Hi Art –

    I have not been there.

Your question in #1 is pertinent. How many mountains do you want to see?

    there are other options…

    Hi Art,

If you intend to experience walking the suspension bridge connecting 2 peaks, then good to go. However, not much snow in September, hence scenery would be different from those beautiful snowy Google images.
