    Hi SwissAlps team,

I want to book two tickets on the Goldenpass for 22nd March 2018 from Interlaken to Montreux. How far in advance can I book reserved seats? The website “reservations.mob.ch" does not work for that date at the moment. Can you let me know if I there is any way I could reserve my seats?

    Regards,

    Josh

You can’t reserve seats unfortunately. At that time there is some construction work happening on the line and you will be re-routed by bus for a short stretch just before Montbovon. Reservations have therefore been suspended. The bus transfer should be seamless so don’t be put off. Train probably not crowded at that time of year.

Hi! I have follow-up questions about this same topic as I am also hoping to travel along the general GoldenPass line while it’s under construction – I’ll be traveling the other direction from Montreux to Interlaken on 26th March 2018. If I’m unable to reserve seats on the bus in advance, do I simply purchase tickets at the Montreux station in person? And since there are no seat reservations, I’m assuming costs should be covered under my Swiss Travel Pass?

    Thanks so much in advance,

    Victoria

    Hello Victoria,

With a Swiss Travel Pass the trip is free and you just roll up to Montreux Station and board the appropriate train. No need for any tickets. The inability to make reservations at that time of year (19 March to 1 June) applies to the whole trip Montreux to Zweisimmen, not just the bus.

The bus is just for a short stretch between Montbovon and Château-d’Oex.

    Hope that helps.

A related question — I’m traveling during the construction and was hoping to upgrade to 1st class (from the Swiss Travel Pass) for the Montreux to Zweisimmen segment. It looks like while 2nd class and 1st class tickets are available for sale (not reservations), the class upgrade isn’t being sold on the website or the app. Any idea of the “no reservations” due to constructions also means “no upgrades” or if it may be possible to purchase the upgrade at the station?

Yes, the bus doesn’t offer 1st class so I would think that is the issue.

You can talk with them at the station to inquire about a 1st class upgrade on the train portion.

You can use the SBB website and the app presumably to buy 2 separate class upgrades for the 2 train legs Montreux- Montbovon and C d’O to Zweisimmen.

Brilliant — thank you! Looks like it’s letting me do that and as a bonus, I save a couple bucks.
