    Hello,

We need you suggestions please. We are planning to take Golden pass in early September from Lucerne – Montreux and maybe to Geneva and back to Lucerne. Is 2 day trip enough? And we will stay 1 night on this trip. Should we spend the night in Montreux or Geneva? And please show us best route to go back from Geneva to Lucerne.

Does Swiss half fare care apply for Golden pass? Would you please share the link where I can purchase Golden pass. Is the fare shown on the site full price or already 50% discount fare set default.

    Thank you so much.

    Thy

    Hi Thy,

I think 2 days is sufficient if it’s mainly to experience the Goldenpass train ride, combined with a bit of sightseeing in Montreux. If you’re planning the return journey to Lucerne from Geneva, it would probably make sense to spend the night in Geneva. There are lots of connections from Geneva and you can plan your trips easily with the SBB timetable.

Yes, you can use the Swiss Half Fare Card on the Goldenpass. For details about tickets and prices, please use this link and scroll to the bottom for more information: http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass/tickets

Let us know if you need further information.

    Regards,

    Hi Anna,

Do you know if Swiss half fare card and all train tickets are refundable in case Switzerland closes border?

Can we buy train tickets more than 60 days in advance? Should I buy bus, cogwheel train, gondola, and cruise tickets on the day I travel?

Can I reserve seats on Golden pass rail?

And thank you so much your suggestions.

    Thy

    Hi Thy,

I recommend you buying mountain transport on the very day you are travelling – so you can check the weather forecast (http://www.myswissalps.com/weather/forecast) in advance.

Tickets for local trains do not need to be booked in advance. You should only book tickets in advance for panoramic trains (and reserve your seats). You can reserve your seats for the Golden Pass, although seat reservations are not compulsory on the Golden Pass we recommend it on the Zweisimmen to Montreux leg. You can do it here: http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass/tickets.

Regarding the cancellation policies, you’ll find all the information here: http://www.myswissalps.com/coronavirus/planning and here about the Swiss Half Fare Card – it depends on the reseller: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard/price.
