Hi,

I am currently doing my railpass calculation, have a question regarding the golden pass ticket. If we were to purchase Golden pass from Montreux to Lucerne for CHF75, can we drop off at Interlaken for few days and continue the journey to Lucerne with the Golden pass purchased after that? Or do we need to repurchase another golden pass? How long is the validity of the pass?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank!

Hi chiral,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! Golden Pass is not something to purchase. It the marketing/tourist name for the rail line Montreux - Interlaken - Lucerne. The details can be found here: myswissalps.com/ goldenpass.

If you want to stay in Interlaken for a few days you can't do that on one ticket. You will need to purchase a ticket to Interlaken and a seperate ticket from Interlaken. Price wise there is no difference with one ticket for the entire ride. However, it's likely that you don't need (regular priced) tickets as a rail pass is cheaper in most cases. This assumes you will do day trips from Interlaken too. You calculations will reveal what the best option is.
