I plan to stay in Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen either in resort/ hotels or in rented house. I understand from this site that though there is road, most of the town is car free. My question is, once u arrive by train to any of these towns, how do I reach my hotel or rented property with my luggage. Will I have to walk with my luggage or use any public transport? Where can I find schedule of public transport (example : bus) to travel within the town ?

From my experience, I was staying at the Wengener Hof in Wengen. While I was at the train station in Lauterbrunnen I used the phone board that has a list of hotels and just pick up the phone and push the button for your hotel and let them know you are about to get on the train in Lauterbrunnen and they can meet you at the Wengen train station in an electric cart to give you and your luggage a ride to the hotel.

    Hello Jakay,

Nice places you’ve chosen to stay in.

There are two car-free towns in the area called Murren and Wengen, as you can see from spaulus69s post.

Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald are, however, NOT car free and you should thus have no problem finding a Taxi, should your hotel not offer a shuttle service or similar.

    Find helpful information here:

    http://www.myswissalps.com/la uterbrunnen

Check the “Hotels” and “Rentals” tab for accommodation.

Get an impression of the car-free villages I mentioned are here:

Hope this helps your planning. Get back to us for further input anytime.

    Best,
    Steph
