Hello Danielyeojl, welcome to MySwissAlps!
Yes, the towns you mention would be perfect to explore Switzerland. You can read more about them, and find accommodation and day trip suggestions, at:
This may help you plan your trip in detail:
As for your rail pass question: which pass is best, can only be calculated once your itinerary is pretty much fixed and once you know which day trips you’ll be making from each base town: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass. At first glance though, I’d say a 15 day Swiss Travel Pass is the most obvious choice: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass. It will cover all train transfers, bus and boat trips and it will provide discounts on mountain trips. The Swiss leg of your journey to Italy will also be covered, so you’d only need additional tickets from the Swiss/Italian border to your destination in Italy: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/italy.
