how many days Swiss pass to buy?

24 onwards to Italy from Zermatt.

As for your rail pass question: which pass is best, can only be calculated once your itinerary is pretty much fixed and once you know which day trips you’ll be making from each base town: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass. At first glance though, I’d say a 15 day Swiss Travel Pass is the most obvious choice: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass. It will cover all train transfers, bus and boat trips and it will provide discounts on mountain trips.
