    hello,

trying to buy 2 family 1/2 fare cards and 2 of the free kids cards. My son was born september 5, 2001. It will not let me get him a free card. he is only 15 and will not turn 16 until this september. the rules say that as long as they are 15 and under 16 they can get the free card. the date on the purchase page will not accept anything older than a 2002 birth date. am i missing something?

    Hi Danwoodruff,

Where are trying to purchase your rail passes?

You should be able to buy the Swiss Half Fare Card online here (and add on the Swiss Family Card at the same time) without it asking for ages before purchasing.

You need one Swiss Half Fare Card per adult (over 16) and one Swiss Family Card (covers both children).

    Hello Dan,

Is it http://www.swissrailways.com/ en perhaps? I just checked and indeed the calendar only allows birth dates from 2002 for children, once you selected “Online Ticket” for at home printing. However, you can select September 5, 2002 and then change that to 2001, Just click in the text box and correct it. Does that work for you?

    Lucas,

I am on the link you provided. When you go to enter in the kids names and date of birth it will not allow me to enter an age past 2002 for the year. he was born September 2001. The rules say he can be under 16 but the calendar will not accept anything past the age of 15…. like 15 and 5 months . Please try it.

    thanks,

    Dan

i type in the 2 adults info and move on to the swiss 1/2 fare card at the bottom which i assume is the spot for the free travel family card for the kids. the date will only allow for 2002 and no older. i think it is a problem with the website. do i enter 2001 for the birth year even though he was born in 2001?

    2002 instead of 2001?

You can select 2002 from the drop-down list. Then click in the date field with your mouse and change the year to 2001 (by typing). I just did that. Does it work for you as well?
