Hi, I´m a portuguese girl. I’m planning a trip in Switzerland and I’m thinking of buy a Interrail One Country pass, but I have some doubts. Can you please help me? There are my doubts:

    – Can I use this travel pass in any kind of trains? For example: Geneve Airport to Geneve (city); Geneve to Lausanne; Wintherthur Wülflingen to Wintherthur (donwtown), Lausanne to SaintPrex, etc?

    – What will I need to purchase tickt travels? Just my ID card and Interrail Pass?

    – Shall I book my travels much time before?

Hope you can help me. Sincerely, Catarina

Hi Catarina and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The train type doesn’t matter as much as the route you are taking. We have information on the Interrail Switzerland Pass and where it is valid here. Open the PDF map and scroll to the last page for a good map of the Swiss rail lines that will work.

If the route is fully covered you will only need the pass and your ID. If you go up a mountain like Mt. Pilatus (where you get a 30% discount on the route) you must buy a separate ticket.

No need to book any trains in Switzerland- they are designed to not be needed. The only exception is the panoramic trains, like the Glacier Express, Bernina Express and Gotthard Panorama Express.

If you would like details on buying the Interrail Switzerland pass click here.

    I hope that helps!

    Lucas
