    Hi,

We (4 adults and 1 toddler) are travelling between in May 2018 between Zurich(2 nights) – Lucerne (3 nights)- Grindelwald (3 nights)- Montreux (3 nights) (visit to Zermatt by train)- Geneva – Paris

We also plan trips to Mount Rigi (from Lucerne), Mount Jungfrau (from Grindelwald) and lake trips and Rhine Falls

I looked at the Swiss Travel pass website, got a bit confused about how the Flex and the normal pass would work?

    Are there restrictions on dates?

What would be optimal to get in the above itinerary?

We want to get the Golden Pass Panorama tickers between Grindelwald – Interlaken – Montreux

and also the fastest train from Geneva to Paris (TGV – 3 hours)

    Would really appreciate any advice.

    Thanks

    Tanima

The Swiss Travel Pass is for consecutive days – so 3, 4, 8 or 15 days in a row (starting on the date you specify).

The Swiss Travel Pass Flex is for any 3, 4, 8, or 15 days that you choose (within 30 days of the date you choose).

It seems like you are in Switzerland for 11 days and on the 12th day you leave for Paris?

I would think the buying 15 Swiss Travel Pass would be the best option for you. No Swiss rail passes will cover the entire trip to Paris. If you are leaving from Montreux to Paris the rail pass would cover you until Geneva. You would then need to buy tickets for Geneva to Paris separately – you can buy them online here.

Also watch out for promotions. The recent promotion i saw, 2 extra days were offered on the 4 day and 8 day passes. Itssometimes country specific. Flex pass might be of your help in that case.am right Lucas?

    Possibly.

There is a sale on right now through Rail Europe. But it is on both passes. The extra day offer is only valid for travel until April 21, 2018 and not for Australians I don’t believe.

The non-flex Swiss Travel Pass for 15 days is normally 458chf and the Flex is 420chf for just 8 days. So you are only paying 38chf to cover all 12 days. If they were to stay in one or two towns and not travel for several days it could work out.
But almost always the Swiss Travel Pass (non-flex) is the best option.
