    Hi Rastael,

Yes, it is indeed possible! The hike covers a distance of 10Km and the duration is of 4h35 hiking up and of 3h05 back down. The maximum height is 3090 m, the difference in height of the hike is 1485 m. The best season for the hike goes from June until September. April/early May is generally too early for trails at such altitude.

Early May is probably too early for the path to be officially open, as the ski season will not be long finished and snow can linger in Spring

You will have the option to walk part of the way, e.g. until Riffelalp or Riffelberg. From there you can take the train to the top to enjoy the views: http://www.myswissalps.com/gornergrat. The tourist office will be able to tell you until where the path is safe.
