Hiking in Swiss mountains, first week of October?

    I saw another post about snow at higher elevations, and I’m wondering about the weather and being able to hike Oct 3-5 from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg when in Wengen or Riffelalp to Riffelsee when in Zermatt. I would appreciate your input.

    Hi kfordco,
    I moved your thread out of the Trip Reports forum (just for those who are discussing their completed Swiss trip).

    Generally speaking, early October shouldn’t be a problem at all for those higher elevation hiking trails.
    Just keep an eye on the weather and check in with the local tourism office before heading up. But early October is considered to still be a good hiking time. http://www.myswissalps.com/be sttimetovisit // http://www.myswissalps.com/we ather
