Hello everyone,

me and a friend are planning to spend a weekend hiking in Zermatt (10-13 May). Unfortunately May is a very tricky month since most of the paths and hats will be closed.

Any suggestions for nice (and safe) hikes to do in that time of the year?

I would really like to do the 5 lakes walk but I can't figure out if the Blauherd cable car will be open at that time.

The Randa bridge was also in my plans but a friend who was there couple weeks ago told me the path is closed. I would like to know if this is due only to the path's conditions or also to the bridge safetiness.

Thank you very much to whoever will give us some tips!

The Sunnegga-Blauherd gondola operates from 16 Jun until 30 Sept 2018.

When hiking trails are closed, it is usually for safety reasons. Others with experience in hiking around Zermatt can hopefully provide you with more details.

The season for this walk is described as Jun-Sep:

When you are in Zermatt, you can check the current status of the trail here:
