    Hi everyone,

I’ll be visiting Switzerland for the first time on October 1st. I bought a Saver Day Pass in advance and one of my first train rides will be from Zurich HB to Grindelwald (First) . I have just a couple questions:

    1. Is there a place they check tickets before entering the train, or is it on the train? Also will I need a physical ticket or is having QR Code on my phone sufficient?

2.On my train ride mentioned above there are many transfers (Bern, Interlaken etc.).When boarding my initial train in Zurich (and during each transfer) do I need to be careful which specific train cart I board or is it all the same?

    3. Is it self explanatory where to find the next train i’m supposed to transfer to? I’d imagine there are signs to help guide people but I just wanted to be certain!

    4. I understand from Grindelwald to First i will need to take a cable car. Are cable cars and buses generally cash only or are you able to pay using card?

    I appreciate any help!

    Hello SwisssCheese,

Traveling by train in Switzerland is fairly simple, unusually simple maybe. Make sure you read below link and also the following answers to your questions:
    http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/practical/howtotra vel

    1. Both is fine, holding a paper ticket and the code on your mobile. I usually like to have both (printed code), just in case of loss or lack of battery, ..

    2. You only have to make sure you board the right train and the correct class (1st or 2nd), whereas, even if you board in 1st and walk inside the train to the 2nd class carriage you’re fine.

    3. It makes sense to look up onto which track you’ll have to change at the according stations, which is visible either on the timetable below or the SBB mobile app you’ll find in the second link:

    http://www.myswissalps.com/ab outswitzerland/practic al/websites
The information will also be displayed at the train stations, both centrally and on each platform (destination of train)

    4. Most places in the Jungfrau Region will accept credit cards, but it generally makes sense to always carry some cash on you, I’d say.
